Think about the problems a new king of England would have after they won the Battle of Hastings- be prepared to answer questions next lesson!
Your task is to imagine that you have arrived to join William’s army. Write a postcard home explaining what it is like to be in William’s army, describing which soldiers make up the army, what weapons you use, and whether you think William is likely to win in a battle or not. Use the template given out in class to help. In case you have lost a copy please see attached.
Using your notes from the lesson complete the drawings and captions for your story board. I have attached a blank storyboard below for reference.
Who do you think should succeed Edward the Confessor and gain the throne of England?
You are now in charge of their campaign, create a poster to advertise and promote why they should take the Throne! Research and write down a paragrpah in your own words saying who Edward the Confessor was and why his death caused a problem for England.
No Homework- just have a fantastic break, however,
If you would like to find out who Edward the Confessor was, and find out why his death caused a problem for England then there will be Vivos! Well done this term- I have been very impressed with your Anglo- Saxon villages! Now add the little extras to your village- the Anglo Saxon runes, the monument to an Anglo Saxon god!- Also see below if you are not ready for the extras yet!!!!
Use your homework time to add those little extra bits to your project that I will not let you do in lessons: The design of the houses The extra research about village life Coloring in designing Anglo Saxon signs above the doors written in Ruins (See homework below) I have attached the file of teh document I have given to you in lessons below, but I will also give you two lessons to do this work so only do the extra bits that you like to take your time over. Remember while I love well presented work I am not an Art class and above all I love the facts and explainations that you give. You might also want to come to our new Humsoc club on a Wednesday to have some extra time in this project?
Using the worksheet I gave to you in class (a copy is attached below in case you have lost it!) Go onto this website: •www.pastexplorers.org.uk/village/ and complete as many questions as possible- we will use this information next week.
The Anglo Saxons at the start of our period of study (425AD) wrote in Ruins, these were a series of shapes like our letters. Look at the document below and write on a sheet of paper what it is saying- what could it mean?
